The Fort Worth-raised creator of the hit spy thriller reprises his role as Sergeant Major Cody Spears, appearing alongside Zoe Saldaña, the series lead. “Until we have the target, you are the mission,” Spears tells Saldaña’s character, CIA agent Joe McNamara, in a flashback. They then set out on a dangerous battlefield to find that target.

Time will tell how big of a role Spears plays, with more screen time for Sheridan potentially on the table.

“The show’s better for it when he plays a role,” Thad Luckinbill, who plays CIA paramilitary officer Kyle McManus, recently told The Hollywood Reporter. “He’s a great character, and he kills it. So, I love when he comes in and plays with us.”

Sheridan first appeared as Spears in Season 2, showing up in three episodes. The show writer can also be seen as cowboy Travis Wheatley in Yellowstone, cattleman Charles Goodnight in 1883 and an unnamed cowboy in his 2016 film Hell or High Water.
