Amanda McMahon is speaking out about her relationship with convicted killer Chris Watts.
Before he murdered his wife Shanann and their daughters Bella and Celeste in August 2018, Amanda connected with Chris on Tinder and they first met in a Chick-fil-A parking lot. At the time, Chris had claimed that he was separated from Shanann, but it turns out that wasn’t the truth.
Today, McMahon revealed “something about him felt off.”
“I could tell any kind of sweetness he had was very fake,” McMahon told the Daily Mail. “I won’t say forced, because he was able to turn on the charm for anything he needed…but something about him felt off.”
During intimate moments, “He had just this animalistic fury come over him,” she said. “He just went into like a zone. He just didn’t look the same in his eyes.
“He went from normal to crazy, like brutal, almost,” McMahon told the outlet, adding that she was “scared to really say anything.”
During their trysts, she said Watts would often slam his wife, referring to her as a “’f—king pyscho,’” or a “gold digger.”
“He would say the most awful things,” she continued, “talking her down and making her seem like a horrible, unstable person… say[ing] he wished she’d work and complain that he had to support her.”
McMahon originally downplayed the extent of the relationship to authorities in 2018 because she was involved in a custody battle and feared the personal repercussions of revealing more details.
“I was so fearful of having it blow up in my face,” she said. “It had to do with reckless sex, reckless behavior. Disclosing that entire web… isn’t something you want to put out in the public when your ex-husband will load it into a gun and use it as ammo.”
Watts pleaded guilty in November 2018 to murdering his 34-year-old wife, who was pregnant, along with the couple’s daughters, 4-year-old Bella and 3-year-old Celeste.
He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole and is serving his sentence at the Dodge Correctional Institution in Wisconsin.
