Juan Soto was removed from Friday’s game against the Dodgers, as the Mets pinch-hit Jorge Polanco for the slugger in the sixth inning.
The Mets later announced it was due to left calf soreness.
Soto has been dealing with the sore calf in the opposite leg that landed him on the IL earlier in the season. Soto has been limited to DH duties since tweaking his calf, which is where he started Friday. The left-handed slugger walked twice in his two at-bats and ran the bases, and there was no noticeable issue.

The Mets have used opportunities to get Soto off his feet of late — usually in a one-sided contest — but Soto was pulled in a 1-1 game.
Interim manager Andy Green had said Soto was fine prior to Friday’s series opener after staying away from him in the Mets’ series finale with the Brewers. The rationale was to give Soto two days to rest and be ready for the homestand.
“We were just gonna stay away from him, try to give him 48 hours to get the calf thing completely behind him,” Green said at the time. “He’s been able to be out there on it, but it has continued to be something that he’s dealt with on a minor level.”
