A lobby ceiling collapsed at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, during firefighters’ efforts to put out an early morning fire.
According to the Atlantic City Fire Department, on Monday, July 27, 2026, around 5:30 a.m., crews were called to the Ocean Casino Resort after receiving reports about a fire.
When crews arrived, they found a fire in the resort’s linen capture room. Officials said the fire produced heavy smoke and burning debris.
Firefighters then began suppression operations and successfully contained and extinguished the fire, according to officials.
During those efforts, a significant water release caused heavy water flow throughout portions of the property. Officials said the water intrusion caused a large ceiling collapse in the lobby and affected elevator shafts and back-of-house hallways.
After completing water control operations, officials said firefighters turned the scene over to Ocean Casino Resort facilities staff.
No injuries have been reported at this time, according to officials. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Ocean Casino Resort closed its gambling operations on Monday due to the collapse, but the restaurants, pools and other operations remained open.
Late on Monday, a rep for the resort said that they expect gambling operations to resume on Tuesday.
