Scattered storms and heavy rain possible early next week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A few showers and storms will be possible for the rest of the day with temperatures in the 90s.

Tonight will be partly cloudy and warm with temperatures in the 70s.

It will be hot and humid to close out the weekend. Highs on Sunday will be in the mid to upper 90s and when you factor in the humidity it will feel like it’s around 105 degrees.

Temperatures will remain well above normal through early next week with highs in the mid to upper 90s. Temperatures will fall on Tuesday behind a disturbance.

With the disturbance nearby on Monday, shower and storm coverage will be scattered. Heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty wind will be likely in any storm.

The heat index on Monday will likely approach 105 once again.

Regarding the drought, the latest drought monitor reflects improvement across our area. Several areas have been downgraded to a moderate and severe drought which reflects the rainfall we saw over the past week.

While we are still in a deficit, rainfall will once again lead to more improvement in the next outlook.
