CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A public health alert was issued for chicken sold at a popular grocery store chain in the Tri-State area.
According to a release from the Food Safety and Inspection Service, a public health alert was issued for chicken sold under the Private Selection brand at Kroger and Fred Meyer stores in nine states, including Indiana and Kentucky.
The specific product affected by the alert was “Private Selection Honey Dijon Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts with Rib Meat” with a best by date of June 28, 2026 and the lot code “15326A.”
A store employee reportedly discovered that the product had an incorrect label applied to the back of it, which included the nutrition facts and ingredient statement. The incorrect ingredients failed to include eggs, a known allergen that were present in the product.
Customers who purchased the product were advised to throw them away or to return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
