The Philadelphia Phillies have been playing some solid baseball as of late, currently sitting at 51-41 on the 2026 MLB season after a recent road win over the Cincinnati Reds. Kyle Schwarber and the rest of the bats have heated up in recent weeks, allowing the Phillies to nearly catch all the way up to the Atlanta Braves in the NL East divisional race.

Last August, Schwarber absolutely obliterated the Braves to the tune of four home runs in a game, which happened to occur when the hit ABC show Abbott Elementary was shooting a standalone episode at the game.

With Randall Einhorn’s recent Emmy nomination for the episode, which was entitled “Ball Game,” Schwarber is now officially a part of an Emmy-nominated television episode.

“100% of the episodes of scripted television that Kyle Schwarber has appeared in have been nominated for Emmys, an MLB record,” noted Jon Becker on X, formerly Twitter.

Schwaber hasn’t had a four home run game yet this year, but he has still been playing well for a Phillies team that is looking to finally break through and win a World Series with this core of players. Philadelphia made it to the World Series back in 2022, bowing out to the Houston Astros, and then lost in the NLCS against the Arizona Diamondbacks the following year, squandering a 3-2 lead in the process.

The last two seasons, the Phillies have lost as the home team in the NLDS against the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers, running their string of consecutive tough postseason exits to four. This year, Philadelphia will hope to peak at the right time heading into the playoffs and carry that momentum all the way through to a World Series win.
