“The Hunting Party” is officially not returning to NBC.
Cast options on the conspiracy thriller meets police procedural have lapsed, Deadline previously reported, meaning NBC is not keeping any of the stars exclusively tied to the show, a sign there is no life left in the project. The series starred Melissa Roxburgh as a former FBI profiler who leads a team assembled to hunt down escaped killers who fled a mysterious prison.
The outlet reported that cast options also expired for a pilot starring Emily Deschanel, the crime drama “Key Witness,” which, according to IMDb, was set to follow a “trailblazing” psychologist and FBI consultant who focuses on victims rather than perpetrators.
USA TODAY has reached out to NBC for comment.
The moves are part of a larger shift for the network, which dropped its summer and fall schedules earlier this year, without “The Hunting Party.” “Brilliant Minds,” “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” “Karamo” and “The Kelly Clarkson Show” were also absent from the list.

The network canceled nine shows ahead of the summer season, including:
NBCUniversal’s Jeff Bader, president of program planning strategy, told reporters ahead of NBC’s upfront in May that the network is running on a “very tight schedule.”

New shows airing on NBC in the fall include “Line of Fire,” “The Traitors” and “Newlyweds.” Meanwhile, shows that have been renewed include “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago Med,””Chicago P.D.,” “Happy’s Place,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.”
