Jonah Hill believes that he is now capable of beating up anyone who mocks him for his weight thanks to BJJ.
Hollywood star Hill became famous for his comedic roles in Superbad, Get Him To The Greek and Funny People where his size was a big part of the role. He has since had some fluctuations but generally looks a much more svelte individual these days.
He attributes some of his weight loss and fitness to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which he learned from third degree black belt Josh Griffiths. His trainer has competed at Abu Dhabi World Pro events and worked with top UFC fighters.
Jonah Hill opens up about the impact of BJJ on his life
After a few years of training on the mats and earning a number of stripes on his white belt, Jonah Hill has gained a whole new confidence from BJJ. During a recent podcast appearance, he noted that he would love to beat up a fan who mocks him for his weight during his most famous role.
“My favorite thing is people are like, ‘Oh, Jonah Hill, f—ing fat guy from Superbad’,” Hill recalled during the Smartless podcast. “And I’m like, ‘I would f—ing annihilate you, dude. I’m not kidding you. Try it. If you see me, try it, dude. Bring it. Who’s got it?’”
He also noted that his body struggles to adapt to his new activity, adding that: “I love Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, except my body is begging me not to love it. My wife is often like, ‘You’re not going to become a professional fighter. You know that, right? You’re a comedian’.”
Hosts Sean Hayes, Will Arnett and Jason Bateman are far from top athletes, and Hill believes that if a fight had broken out between them that he would come out on top.
