MORRISTOWN — Independence Day celebrations will kick off July 3 in Morristown with Another Fine Mess performing from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and fireworks at dusk.
On Saturday July 4 fun continues with the Steve Spuillman Memorial parade at 10 a.m.
The weekend kicks off Friday, July 3, with the Morristown Recreation Committee’s 12th Annual Firecracker 5K and Fun Run. Registration and bib pickup begin at 8 a.m., followed by the one-mile fun run and 5K race at 9 a.m. The event starts and finishes on Ann Street near the Morristown School bus garage and baseball field.
Organizers say the event will feature recorded race times, a DJ, ice cream, family-friendly activities and an awards ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Registration is $20 for adults and $10 for children and students.
Festivities continue Saturday, July 4, with the Morristown Auxiliary’s annual Craft and Vendor Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the field behind the Morristown Fire Hall. The fair will feature local vendors, crafts and community activities as part of the village’s Independence Day celebration.
Also on July 4, the Morristown Fire Department will host its annual Chicken BBQ at the Morristown Fire Hall. Meals will be served beginning at 11:30 a.m. at a cost of $15.
The dinner includes chicken, salt potatoes, baked beans, a roll, ice cream and bottled water. Fire department officials say proceeds help support department activities and services.
The holiday weekend concludes Sunday, July 5, with a breakfast and car show fundraiser hosted by the Morristown Trap Team. The event will run from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Black Lake Fish & Game Club, located at 1 Gilmour Road in Ogdensburg.
The all-you-can-eat breakfast will feature pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, eggs made to order, sausage, bacon, homemade hash browns, coffee and juice. Admission is $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 10 and under, and free for children ages 3 and under.
A car show will be held alongside the breakfast, with all makes and models welcome. Vehicle registration is $10, with registration open from 8 to 11 a.m. Awards and trophies will be presented at noon.
Proceeds from the breakfast and car show will benefit the Morristown Trap Team’s trip to the 2026 USA High School Clay Target League National Championship.
Norwood
NORWOOD — The annual Norwood Fourth of July celebration will culminate with a fireworks display valued at approximately $12,000 and a Grand Parade featuring the Brockville Pipes and Drums and DownBeat Percussion, the official drumline of the Buffalo Bills.
Hosted by the Norwood Volunteer Fire Department and Firemen’s Association, this year’s celebration is being held in memory of Brian Haggett Sr. and serves as a fundraiser for the department’s fireworks display and community programs.
The Grand Parade steps off at 1 p.m. from Maple Street, traveling down Spring Street, across Route 56 onto Bicknell Street and ending at Firemen’s Field via Morgan Street. Along with local businesses, organizations, fire departments and community groups, the parade will feature performances by Brockville Pipes and Drums and DownBeat Percussion.
The day will conclude with the annual fireworks display at approximately 9:45 p.m.
Activities begin earlier in the day at Village Park. The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department will provide free Safe Child ID services from 10 a.m. to noon.
Pony rides and a petting zoo featuring a miniature horse and donkey will be available from approximately 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and again from 2 to 3 p.m. Belly Buttons the Clown will offer face painting from noon to 3 p.m., with donations benefiting the fire department.
Children can also enjoy two bounce houses provided by Let’s Bounce Inflatables.
Food vendors throughout the day will include Street Meats Food Truck, Gideon’s Galley & Catering, Fizzy Dreams and Jet Nutrition, which will donate $1 from every Lit Tea sold to the fire department. An ice cream truck and additional vendors selling snacks, drinks, toys and inflatables will also be on site.
At Firemen’s Field, the annual Demolition Derby begins at 1 p.m. Admission is $5, while children 10 and under are admitted free. Fire department members will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, french fries and beverages.
Additional vendors at Firemen’s Field will include Old Market Gift Shop, Benny’s Bargains and Boutique and St. Maple LLC.
Organizers are continuing to seek community support to help offset the cost of the fireworks display. Donation jars are located at 7-Eleven, the Norwood Public Beach, Dollar General, Lobster House, Aunt Bea’s, Jet Nutrition and Gandy Dancer’s Rest. Donors contributing $500 or more will be recognized by the parade announcer and on social media.
Hannawa Falls
HANNAWA FALLS — The 41st annual Robert Plumb Memorial Independence Day fireworks show I’ll be held at Postwood Park on July 4.
The show is held at dusk and can be seen from Postwood Park or on the bridge near Chip’s Place. Donations can be made at Chip’s Place.
Jake’s on the Water has sponsored the event.
Brasher Falls
BRASHER FALLS — All Starr Roofing will host its annual Firework Show on July 4 at 1588 County Route 53 in Brasher Falls.
The event begins at 2 p.m. and will feature bounce houses, a paint station, vendors and food trucks.
DJ Sauvage of Akwesasne will provide music from 4 to 9 p.m.
Participating vendors and attractions include a hot dog station, The Little 56 Fried Dough & Dirty Soda, A-Z Lemonade, Erica Bakes with mini cakes and cakesicles, PT Studios 3D Printing + Content Creation, and the Glow Truck.
Fireworks are scheduled to begin at dusk.
The event is hosted by Danielle Bevins and Carisa Deshane through All Starr Roofing.
Organizers invite the public to celebrate Independence Day with family, friends and fireworks.
Cranberry Lake
The Cranberry Boat Club will be hosting their 17th annual Firecracker Race/Walk on July 4 starting at the Cranberry Lake Boat Launch at 9 a.m. Races will include a 5K and 10K Run, 5K Walk, and 1 Mile Fun Walk. This is a non-sanctioned race down Columbian Road, where there is little to no traffic.
Day of registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Long Term Parking Lot for the Cranberry Lake Boat Launch. Registration includes a T-shirt and registration is encouraged. Raceday registration costs $30 for adults and $5 for ages 12 and under.
