American tennis player Amanda Anisimova became the latest high-seeded tennis player to lose in the first three rounds at Roland Garros on Saturday.
Anisimova was the sixth seed in the women’s draw, and she took on Diane Parry, who was unranked.

Parry took the first set 6-3, using her home nation crowd to her advantage. Given how chaotic the early rounds of the tournament have been on both the men’s and women’s sides with upsets, it looked like Anisimova might be next to see an early exit.
The American battled back in the second set, winning 6-4 to force a third set in the match.

Anisimova was up in the final set 5-4 with the chance to break Parry for the win, but the Frenchwoman held on to tie the set at five games apiece.
The American held her serve as the third set moved to 6-5. All eyes were on Parry and whether she could hold serve to force a tiebreaker, or if Anisimova would escape with the win and advance.

Parry held strong and forced the match into a tiebreaker. The scoring is different in tiebreakers: The winner is the first to 10 points, but they must win by two.
The tiebreaker was tied 3-3, but then Parry came up with seven straight points for the 10-3 win.
The 23-year-old Parry will play in the fourth round of Roland Garros for the first time in her career. She will face unranked Maja Chwalinska on Monday, with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line.
Animisova joins a lengthening list of top seeds to fall in the early rounds of this year’s tournament.
Jessica Pegula (No. 5, 1st round), Elena Rybakina (No. 2, 2nd round), Alexander Bublik (No. 9, 1st round), Daniil Medvedev (No. 6, 1st round), Taylor Fritz (No. 7, 1st round), Ben Shelton (No. 5, 2nd round), Jannik Sinner (No. 1, 2nd round), Alex de Minaur (No. 8, 3rd round) and Novak Djokovic (No. 3, 3rd round) as well as Animisova are the top 10 seeds who have lost in the first three rounds of the singles draws.
