A new calculator to determine home property tax savings in Florida is now available online, Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Saturday.

On X, DeSantis posted a link to Save Our Homes, where users are greeted with a quote by him that says “Truly owning private property should not mean perpetually paying rent to the government.”

Users on the website can then use the calculator by putting their home address.

Once they enter their address, they will see information related to 2025 estimated taxes levied, estimated taxes levied with up to $250,000 homestead exemption, and annual savings.

The calculator launched after DeSantis on Wednesday unveiled a proposal aimed at reducing — and eventually eliminating — property taxes for many Florida homeowners

The governor’s proposal would exempt up to $250,000 of a home’s taxable value for homesteaded properties, meaning a person’s primary residence.

Under the proposal, a homeowner with a property valued at $400,000 would only pay taxes on $150,000 of taxable value.

The new website includes the proposal and a Myth vs Fact section.

The proposal could appear on the November ballot, but first it must receive approval from at least three-fifths of both the Florida House and Senate.

Critics said the proposal is a watered-down version of DeSantis’ promise to immediately eliminate all homestead property taxes. DeSantis said the plan has a better chance of passing.
