Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will all be making cameos in the new season of The Grand Tour, co-creator Andy Wilman has confirmed.
The original series concluded its run with the original trio in 2024 in one final special and it will now be helmed by a new trio of presenters – but not before Clarkson, Hammond and May pass on the baton.
The forthcoming season will be presented by trainspotter and secret petrolhead Francis Bourgeois, alongside James Engelsman and Thomas Holland, the acclaimed creators of the YouTube phenomenon Throttle House.
“We’ve got three guys coming soon with a new Grand Tour and we’ve got behind them,” said Wilman at the Buckingham Literary Festival. “We’re really supporting them.”
“Our guys are in the shows doing cameos, so we’re wishing them well because we do want to pass that baton on.”
The Grand Tour will make a return on Friday 4 September on Prime Video, welcoming in a new era to the beloved format.
Across the six episodes, the trio will tackle motoring’s most pressing questions across some of the world’s most challenging terrains.
The synopsis continues: “From crossing the Angolan desert in track cars to exploring Malaysia’s vibrant car culture, before heading to California to test cutting-edge performance cars, Francis, James and Thomas drive the new series into a new era.”
The new hosts already got a stamp of approval from some of the originals, with a video of Jeremy Clarkson previously showing him looking over the CVs of everyone who applied to be a presenter on the new season.
“He’s the train man from the internet,” Clarkson says of Bourgeois, before stamping ‘approved’ on his CV.
