Travel conditions could become unsettled by the end of the week across the Midwest, spreading across much of the East by Saturday. Severe storms could impact travel in places like New York, Philadelphia, D.C., Cleveland, Indianapolis and Chicago.

Monsoonal storms will continue across Arizona and New Mexico, creeping into Utah, Colorado and Wyoming on Friday. Not a great time to head to the Grand Canyon or the arroyos in Utah and New Mexico. Some storms will continue to percolate in west Texas, too, but not with the intensity of what we saw earlier this week.

If you’re traveling to the Northeast or Midwest, bring a mask and some glasses to shield you from intense smoke coming from southern Canada. While temps will back off for the Northeast over the weekend, the center of the country will see more heat build.

If your trip takes you into Utah, Colorado or the Plains, you should also keep smoke in mind. There are several wildfires burning that are lowering air quality there, too. Grab the mask if you’re susceptible to breathing problems.

By the end of this weekend, heat will be on the rise again. 90s to near 100 degrees will be common from the Dakotas to the western Gulf Coast.

The grasses are in full bloom in many areas, as well. Pollen sufferers will want to account for that in any outdoor plans. Mold allergy sufferers will want to keep this concern in mind across the South.
