Liv Morgan spoiled Stephanie Vaquer’s first WrestleMania by reclaiming the WWE Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 42, Night 1 in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
The match was primed for a big slot as the penultimate match of Saturday night, but it cruised by relatively quickly, lasting less than seven minutes.

Like most of the Night 1 matches, these two got going fast. The first big move came from Morgan with a springboard sunset-flip-esque powerbomb. She followed it with a Three Amigos, as she played to the crowd. Vaquer quickly followed up Morgan’s offense with a Devil’s Kiss, then a suplex-codebreaker.
Morgan went on to find a Backstabber, then tease a Devil’s Kiss theft, only to get hit with a nasty Backbreaker after a roll-up pin attempt from Vaquer.
The champion followed suit after Morgan’s attempted move theft and landed an Oblivion of her own. That set up a potential Vaquer’s Inferno — the Corkscrew Splash. But, of course, The Judgment Day’s Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez interfered, helping Morgan hit an Oblivion.

Vaquer survived it, eliciting a scream from the challenger.
Vaquer began fighting off the other Judgment Day members on the apron, which led to Morgan accidentally diving out onto Rodriguez. A Vaquer springboard cross-body landed to both on the outside, before Morgan fought back to land a diving Codebreaker and Oblivion for the win.
The Judgment Day remains superior without JD McDonagh or Finn Balor in sight. Dominik Mysterio — who wrestles Balor on WrestleMania 42, Night 2 — came out to celebrate with the group.
In the meantime, it’s back to the drawing board for the once-burgeoning superstar Vaquer.
