Taraji P. Henson joins TODAY’s Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones to talk about taking on Broadway for the first time in August Wilson’s “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” where she plays Bertha, who Henson describes as the “laughter and love” of the show. Henson opens up about how she feels more comfortable on stage than in front of a camera, talks about starring alongside Cedric the Entertainer, and reflects on how the play deals with deep topics but is also fun, saying “you have to laugh to keep from crying.” Then she sticks around to play a game of Celebrity Cheerleader.April 20, 2026
