Don’t look now but the New York Mets are on a four-game winning streak as begin a three-game series tonight (6:40 p.m.) in Seattle.

Juan Soto’s sixth-inning grand slam capped the scoring Sunday as the Mets completed a three-game series sweep of the Miami Marlins with a 10-1 win in New York. They outscored the Marlins a combined 25-9, their best output in a series this season, and Jared Young of Prince George did his part, clubbing his first home run of the season in the sixth inning Saturday to trigger a 6-1 victory.

In his fifth game since returning from six weeks on the injured list May 26 after knee surgery, Young also singled and scored the game-winning run in the fourth inning. Hitting in the cleanup spot behind Juan Soto as the designated hitter, Young took Marlin reliever Lake Bachar’s pitch deep into the right field stands to put the Mets ahead 4-1.

Young has hit 3-for-13 and had three walks in those five games.

Through 33 at-bats in 16 games this season, Young is hitting .303 with a .385 on-base percentage and .840 OPS. He has 10 hits, drew five walks and has driven in three runs.

He’s been utilized for his defence as well as the DH role, earning starts at left field and first base.

New York beat the Marlins 9-7 in 10 innings on Friday when MJ Melendez delivered a two-run shot. Their hot streak lately has moved the Mets (26-33) out of the National League East basement and they’re now 5.5 games out of wild-card playoff spot.

Young’s parents, Dana and Randy, and brother Tanner made the trek this week to Seattle, the closest MLB park Jared will visit this season. The games Monday and Tuesday start at 6:40 p.m. PT, while Wednesday’s matinee is set for a 12:40 p.m. start.
