A tumor cluster at Newton-Wellesley Hospital had nearly a dozen nurses wondering if their workplace was the cause.
And now – more than a year later — we’re getting answers from an independent review. Last year, 11 nurses were diagnosed with brain tumors. All of them had previously or currently worked in the hospital’s maternity ward.
According to the Boston Herald, a professor with Harvard Medical School published an external report on the cluster. In it, he says the hospital environment is safe. He went on to say there is no evidence of any harmful chemicals, radiation or other exposures that caused the tumors.
Nine of the tumors were benign and two were malignant.
