Dynamite Entertainment’s new Supernatural series is set to draw to a close later this year. The ten-part series will officially release its final issue in August.
Dynamite’s new solicits for Supernatural #10 reveals that the issue will go on sale Aug. 26, 2026. Dynamite has prepared several special pieces of cover art for the occasion, including a main cover by John Amor, a variant by David Cousens, and several photo covers featuring Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. While the new series may be wrapping up, Dynamite’s teaser hints that there could be more to come.
Dynamite’s New Supernatural Series Confirms Finale Arrives in August
Dynamite is understandably keeping the exact details of Supernatural #10 under wraps for now, but the publisher does tease that there could be a future with more comic stories featuring the Winchester brothers: “Sam and Dean must face one final foe (for now!) and set a new course for creature feature adventures yet to come!”
The new Supernatural series debuted back in October 2025 and saw Dean and Sam prowling the highways of small-town America once more on adventures not seen in the television series. Dynamite’s offerings were set between the first and second series of the show, giving fans a deeper look at the Winchester brothers’ early days as they hunted down new monsters.
The series is written by acclaimed author Greg Pak (Star Wars: Darth Vader, Lilo & Stitch), and its final issue will feature art by Daniel Scalisi. Recent issues have taken a departure from the standard ghostly fare that the brothers usually fight, with Supernatural #8 seeing them battle a killer robot, while issue #9 tasked them with the unthinkable: a brand-new monster they just couldn’t handle.
The ending of Dynamite’s ‘inaugural’ Supernatural series certainly paves the way for future stories. Nothing has been officially announced or confirmed at this time, but the wording of the solicit and the use of the word inaugural certainly makes it sound like there are bigger plans at work behind the scenes.
Supernatural’s Comics Universe Continues to Expand
While the Supernatural television series ended its run on Nov. 19, 2020 after an impressive 327 episodes, the franchise has continued to make a name for itself over the years with an expanded comics universe. Several six-issue miniseries were published by DC Comics’ Wildstorm from 2007-2010, depicting the family’s early lives and even giving fans a glimpse into how John became a hunter.
A fourth miniseries, dubbed Supernatural: Caledonia, was published by DC Comics in 2011. Written by Brian Wood, the story focused on Sam’s trip to the United Kingdom during his Stanford years. Dynamite’s latest series even had its own one-shot spin-off earlier this year, with Supernatural Valentine’s Day Special 2026 taking a dark and demonic look at both love and loss for the Winchester brothers.
For now, it remains to be seen where Dynamite’s Supernatural run could go in the future. There’s the possibility that subsequent releases could follow a similar format, sandwiched between seasons of the television series, or even take on a new spin and look at otherwise unexplored eras of Sam and Dean’s lives.
