Late last month, NBC continued to move forward with a significant content overhaul heading into the 2026-27 broadcasting calendar with the cancellation of another show.

Just weeks prior, news broke that the network canceled medical drama Brilliant Minds, and comedy show Stumble, which received a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes from fans.

‘The Hunting Party’ Canceled After 2 Seasons

The Hunting Party, created by JJ Bailey, was the last 2025-26 broadcast series whose fate had not been determined, according to Deadline. NBC postponed the decision until after the upfronts as its executives took extra time to evaluate the show’s performance on both linear and streaming.

The series received a slight ratings bump when it started streaming on Netflix and Peacock, but not enough to move the needle. According to Deadline, NBC considered both a third season on the broadcast network and a switch to a Peacock original, but “in the end, after some number-crunching, neither option panned out.”

New Update Reveals Potential Life for the Show

While NBC won’t be continuing the produce the show, the network is actively shopping the series, according to TV insider Matt Mitovich, who responded to a fan’s question about the future of the series.

According to Mitovich, there’s no official word on which streamers or networks are in the running, but the show remains in the process of being shopped around in the hopes of striking a resurrection deal.

As he explained in the newsletter, via Hidden Remote, “A source close to production assured me this morning that the serial killer drama is ‘definitely exploring’ options for a new home, though it is ‘too early’ to report anything.”

The series enjoyed a viewership spike when its second season hit Netflix, which is still expected to be in the running as a potential landing spot, according to Deadline.

At this point in the calendar, though, it might be a longshot to see the show return by 2027.
