The report indicates that the Browns are “looking to finalize” a deal for Lawrence, a three-time Pro Bowl and two-time second-team All-Pro nose tackle. That may be true, but it doesn’t mean the Giants are willing to bite on what the Browns are offering.
The Giants, as we wrote earlier on Saturday, want to keep Lawrence if they possibly can. If they have to trade him, their asking price is a first-round pick and further assets.
The Browns’ offer does not appear to be close to that. Per SB Nation’s Browns website, Dawgs By Nature, Cleveland is offering the 39th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Dawgs By Nature’s Jared Mueller believes that is “the best offer that the Giants have received” for the 28-year-old Lawrence.
It seems unlikely that would be an offer the Giants would want to take. Still, if Lawrence has drawn a “line in the sand” and will not budge, as Paul Schwartz of the New York Post indicated is the case, and no other suitors emerge the Giants will be faced with a decision. They will have to either take an offer well below what they believe to be the right value, or risk going forward with an unhappy player who could cause locker room disruption.
