PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Anthem that lasts until 10:15 p.m. Parts of Sun City and Peoria may also be included. The storm is only moving at 5 miles per hour, which could drop a lot of water in a short amount of time.

We have a 30% chance of showers through tonight and early Friday morning. Then, as we approach Friday afternoon, the possibility of rain increases.
By Friday night, the chance of rain in the Valley will be about 50%, and we expect most locations to receive at least some rain. However, what we’re unclear about is the amount. A few of our models are predicting fairly dry conditions with accumulations of less than 1/10 of an inch of rain. A couple of other models are taking a wetter approach, looking for up to 1/3 of an inch of rain, possibly more.
The window for rain will shut very quickly on Saturday as a trough of low pressure begins to push into the state, scouring out all the moisture to the east.
