(Gray News) — A popular antidepressant is being recalled for high levels of a potentially cancer-causing chemical.
The recall is for nearly 360,000 bottles of the prescription drug duloxetine, a generic version of Cymbalta.
The FDA said Breckenridge Pharmaceutical recalled the medication June 4 for high levels of nitrosamines, a chemical compound that may increase the risk of cancer.
The recall affects duloxetine delayed-release capsules in both 30-mg and 60-mg sizes.
The 30-mg capsules that were recalled have lot code 241180C and an expiration date of April 2027.
The 60-mg capsules that were recalled have multiple lot codes and expiration dates affected, including:
- Expiration date November 2026, lot code 232311
- Expiration date January 2027, lot code 240316
- Expiration date February 2027, lot codes 240317, 240318, 240315C, 240373C, 240370C, 240375C and 240413C
- Expiration date April 2027, lot codes 240978C and 241052C
- Expiration date May 2027, lot code 241074C
The recalled medications were distributed nationwide.
