Mito Pereira is ending his career.
The LIV Golf pro announced his retirement on Monday at the age of 30.
A native of Santiago, Chile, Pereira turned pro in 2015 and registered 13 professional wins across various tours.
“Golf played a fundamental role in my life,” Pereira said in a statement. “It allowed me to grow both personally and professionally, to meet incredible people, experience different cultures, and set goals-most of which I was fortunate enough to achieve-taking steps I never imagined possible. I now begin a new chapter feeling happy, motivated, and at peace, without urgency about what the future may bring. I simply want you to know that I am well and proud of what I accomplished in this sport.”
Pereira’s most infamous moment in golf came at the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills in Tulsa. He entered the final round with a three-stroke lead and headed to 18 up one. He would go on to double-bogey the final hole and end up finishing in third place. Justin Thomas won the tournament after defeating Will Zalatoris in a playoff.
Pereira spent the past three seasons with LIV.
Internationally, he was a member of the 2022 Presidents Cup International team. Pereira tied one match and lost two as Team USA was victorious, 17.5 to 12.5, at Quail Hollow in Charlotte.
