Laura Benanti is taking her solo show Nobody Cares on an international tour.
After making her long-awaited London debut performing the show at London’s Underbelly Soho last year, the Tony-winning Broadway favorite will return to the same venue July 14-26.
Afterwards, Benanti will be back stateside to take the show to venues across the U.S., including Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre (August 6-9); New Brunswick, New Jersey’s George Street Playhouse (August 26-30); Baltimore’s Baltimore Center Stage (September 17-26); Los Angeles’ The Wallis (October 1-4); Costa Mesa, California’s South Coast Repertory (October 8-11); Boston’s The Huntington (October 22-25); and Arlington, Virginia’s Signature Theatre (April 27-May 2, 2027).
The tour follows a sold-out run at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe that served as her U.K. debut. Nobody Cares was originally commissioned by Audible Theater, which staged two runs of it Off-Broadway at the Minetta Lane Theatre in 2024. The company has since released a live audio recording of the show. Over the hour-long performance, Benanti tells comedic stories and sings original songs, co-written with Todd Almond (I’m Almost There), also the show’s music director.
“This show is an utterly transparent, self-deprecating romp through my life as a pathological (and now recovering) people pleaser,” says Benanti in a statement. “It has been incredibly gratifying to receive so much positive feedback from such a wide variety of audience members—young women, their mothers and THEIR mothers, gay men (my favorite kind of man), and a special shoutout to boyfriends and husbands who were dragged to the show against their will and are now my ‘biggest fans.’ While the show features a handful of original songs, it is not a musical. It is a comedy show with music. (There’s a difference, I promise!)”
The tour is being produced by rigor + ruckus (Rachel Sussman, Robb Nanus, and Heather Shields), Jenny Gersten, and Ashley Melone & Nick Mills; and co-produced by LD Entertainment, Avadon Broadway LLC, Creative Partners Productions, Steve and Cindy Chao, and Susan Goulet.
Benanti, a Tony winner for her work playing the title role in the 2008 revival of Gypsy, is also set to serve as co-host (alongside fellow Broadway favorite Tituss Burgess) of The Tony Awards: Act One, the pre-show for The Tony Awards. The event—which will feature performances and the presentation of several awards categories—will stream live for free on Pluto TV’s Live Music channel. Visit Playbill.com/Tonys for more.
