Ivor Pandur admits the way his season has played out has been a dream come true, and could only be topped off by making his debut for Croatia.
The Hull City goalkeeper is part of Zlatko Dalic’s squad and is preparing for the big opener with England on Wednesday night in Arlington, Texas.

Despite being named in a host of squads recently, the 26-year-old Tigers gloveman has not yet made his senior debut for the national team, and he’s desperate to achieve that in the expanded World Cup.
Pandur played a starring role in the play-offs as City secured promotion to the Premier League, becoming just the fourth goalkeeper in history to keep clean sheets in both semi-finals and the final.
To play in a World Cup after keeping a clean sheet in front of 85,000 at Wembley last month would be the ultimate bucket list job for Pandur.

“If I could play a couple of minutes for my nation, that wouldn’t be too bad. That’s what dreams are about, but in my mind, I saw it as something realistic,” the stopper told Hull Live.
“At the start of the season, you set these goals and Erbil, my goalkeeper coach, we went through everything, and we achieved everything, but that doesn’t mean it stops because you are always chasing the next thing. You should be grateful for everything you’ve accomplished, us as a team, us as a whole, as a city, as a club. I’m just truly grateful to be here.”

While the competition kicked off in style on Thursday night at one of the great football theatres in football, the Azteca, in Mexico City, for England and Croatia, the opener can’t come soon enough.
“The 17th of June, it will come around quick, and, yeah, it’s something really exciting. I’ve never been to a World Cup; it fills me with pride and fills me with a lot of energy,” he added.
