SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) – The National Weather Service in Detroit, along with assistance from Saginaw County Emergency Management, has officially confirmed an EF-1 tornado in Freeland from earlier Tuesday afternoon.

The tornado touched down at 1:11 PM this afternoon and lifted around 1:14 PM. It had an estimated peak wind of 90 MPH, with a path length of 1.44 miles and a path width of 100 yards.

The damage survey showed a touchdown just south of the Freeland Road, Washington Road, and Webster Road intersection. It caused roof damage to several structures just south of Freeland and Washington.

As it moved north-northwest it impacted several homes, which sustained siding and minor roof damage between Freeland and Sarle roads. Homes along Sarle Road and near Prairie View Court were hit the hardest. Part of a roof was lost on one home, with more siding damage, in addition to a shed/outbuilding that was destroyed. Garage doors were also blown in, with several areas of tree damage.

Even a few RV’s and campers were flipped over and moved. 30 to 40 homes had some level of damage.
