San Francisco public safety officials on Wednesday urged residents to avoid the area around Stonestown Galleria as police activity prompted an emergency response and evacuation of the mall, according to authorities.
The advisory, issued shortly after 12:30 p.m. through the city’s alert system, directed people to steer clear of 3251 20th Ave. and warned of traffic disruptions.
“Emergency crews are on scene. Expect traffic delays, consider alternate routes, and allow for additional travel time,” the alert said.
Officials did not immediately provide details about the nature of the incident, and it was not clear whether anyone had been injured.
A member of the mall’s security team said the shopping center had been evacuated.
