Will Reichard made the longest NFL field goal kicked by a player from an Alabama high school or college when he connected from 62 yards on the final snap of the first half of the Cincinnati Bengals-Minnesota Vikings game on Sunday.

The Alabama alumnus’ second field goal of the first half gave the Vikings a 34-3 lead at halftime.

In Minnesota’s season-opening 27-24 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sept. 8, Reichard made a 59-yard field goal. That tied the former Hoover High School standout for the longest NFL field goal made by a player from an Alabama high school or college.

Former Fort Payne High School kicker Evan McPherson made a 59-yard field goal in the Bengals’ 23-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 11, 2022.

Reichard also made the longest field goal in the Vikings’ history. He surpassed the franchise record of 61 yards, kicked by Greg Joseph on the final snap to lift Minnesota to a 27-24 victory over the New York Giants on Dec. 24, 2022.

Before Reichard joined Minnesota in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, an Alabama alumnus had made one 50-yard field goal in the NFL. On Oct. 18, 1987, Van Tiffin connected from 50 yards out to open the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ scoring in a 20-10 victory over the Vikings at Tampa Stadium.

Reichard made seven field goals of at least 50 yards last season, and his kick on Sunday made him 3-of-3 from beyond midfield in 2025.

Reichard, who became college football’s career scoring leader while at Alabama, has 30 field goals halfway through the 16th regular-season game of his career.
