PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Highs have reached 100 degrees so far today across the Valley. Showers and thunderstorms near Tucson could send gusty winds and pockets of blowing dust northward this evening, mainly south of the Valley. A few gusts around 25 mph, along with some blowing dust, may reach areas like Queen Creek, and it’s possible a few weakening gusts could drift into the Phoenix metro later tonight. We’ll keep you posted.
Sunday into Monday morning, a few showers and thunderstorms will be possible in the higher terrain east of Phoenix. While it’s not completely out of the question that a brief sprinkle reaches the Valley, most locations will stay dry. Overall, expect mostly sunny skies on Memorial Day with highs around 98 degrees. Highs on Tuesday will be near 97.
Breezes will increase across the Valley on Wednesday, with gusts of 25 to 30 mph possible. Highs will remain in the mid 90s before cooler air arrives Thursday, dropping temperatures into the low 90s. Friday is shaping up to be especially pleasant, with morning lows in the mid 60s and afternoon highs around 92 degrees. Temperatures will then warm back into the upper 90s next weekend.
For the High Country, southeast Arizona will see a 30 to 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight, followed by a good chance of scattered showers and storms across much of northern and eastern Arizona on Monday, including Flagstaff and the White Mountains. For those traveling back from the High Country, showers should gradually taper off by late Monday night.
